Psst. Wanna buy Ramsay St house?

"No. 32 Ramsay Street Erinsborough" is up for sale at $1.3m-$1.43m.

“No. 32 Ramsay Street Erinsborough” is up for sale.

The house, at the real address of 1 Pin Oak Court Vermont South, has hit the market for the first time in 30 years, with a $1.3m-$1.43m price guide.

Owner Lorraine Rushton started watching Neighbours “to see what Australia was like” before she emigrated from the UK in 1987. She still watches the show, according to RealEstate.com.

“We get a fee for them coming and filming, and we have 24-hour security — we’re well looked after,” Ms Rushton said.

On screen the house has been home to Jarrod ‘Toadie’ Rebecchi, Mrs Mangel, Jane Harris, Joe Mangel, Dee Bliss, Stephanie Scully, Max Hoyland, Lucas Fitzgerald, David Tanaka, Aaron Brennan amongst others.

The house is auctioned on May 1st.

  1. Hypothetically speaking. If I was to purchase the home and decided to do a knock down and rebuild, I would lodge the appropriate paperwork with council. As a courtesy I’d notify the producers of Neighbours. Would I suspect Fremantle Australia might be a little peeved? Would they CGI the original home or would they have to resort to creating a storyline to fit in with the rebuild? I’ve always been curious about these things.

    1. From memory the location fees includes a condition they don’t change exterior without consulting Fremantle, but I’m not sure how change of ownership affects that. There’s also one house in the street that isn’t featured, due to being mostly set back from the street. I suspect they still get some location fee due to the ongoing inconvenience. Street also has 24 hour security.

      1. I imagine the contract of sale would include the same conditions re: not altering the property exterior without permission of Fremantle.

Who imagined when these homeowners were first invited for their street to host a new soapie that the neighbourhood would still be living with it 36 years later.

    2. As David noted, the contract includes a condition that no visible alterations can be made to the exteriors of the houses without consulting Fremantle first. A green fence was erected in front of No. 24 Ramsay St. about three years ago – the owners put it up during a very brief period between the old contract lapsing and the new one coming into effect. The change was referenced in a 10-second scene in which Mark Brennan mentioned briefly that he had some spare funds and decided to put up a new fence (in response to one of the neighbours commenting on the fence). New owners are required to agree to the conditions of the existing contract with Fremantle (the properties change hands infrequently).

  2. Amused that numerous articles on the sale are emphasising Toadie living here, when he has spent most of his years on the show next door at number 30 (3 Pin Oak Ct)

Yes, he lived here when he arrived on the show as a young teen (before moving in with the Kennedy’s when his mum left) and again when he dated Steph but hardly been the home’s drawcard resident…

I think journos were mixed up given that his brother Shane Rebecchi has been living here more recently…?

If anything, the Holland family are probably the most iconic family to have lived there after the Mangels but hardly a mention
