A movie on Nine at 7:30pm….

It's a rare move these days, but a feature film gets a prime 7:30 slot on Nine.

This will be interesting…

Next week Nine is screening a Tuesday night movie, Bohemian Rhapsody, at 7:30pm. That will go up against MasterChef and Big Brother.

This is because Lego Masters has its grand final on Monday night, with Celebrity Apprentice set for Sunday May 23.

It’s a rare move to screen a film so early these days, although Downton Abbey ran at 7:30pm the night of Prince Philip’s Funeral.

Of course with a top crowd-pleaser like Bohemian Rhapsody it’s worth giving this such status. The casting and Live Aid sequence, in particular, are a knockout.

Dare I suggest Nine will win the night….?

  1. I will watch….long time Queen fan….and this movie was so well done….Rami Malek really owned the role…..I loved and interview Patrick Aboud did with him….I like to watch it every so often….enjoyed the rapport between the two men….👌

  2. As I mentioned in another thread last week (which my guess turned out correct – Seven have now scheduled movies on Thursdays in some markets after recent failures) they still draw healthy crowds more or less and their run times push share. Hopefully it does 500-600k+ but even 350-400k could be enough for Nine to win. Movies often do really well with younger viewers too (7mate, 7flix, 9Go, Peach)

      1. Yeah – Freddie died when I was 12, so I never saw him live. But even recordings of his live performances are amazing. Such a shame we lost him far too young.
