Axed: Birds of a Feather (again)

Revived UK sitcom is not being resuscitated amid rumours of troubled cast.

Revived UK sitcom Birds of a Feather is axed according to British reports.

It was first revived in 2014, after a 15 year absence, with original Essex girls Sharon (Pauline Quirke), Tracey Stubbs (Linda Robson) and Dorien Green (Lesley Joseph). That ended after three seasons and two Christmas specials but it came back as a Christmas special in 2017 and 2020 (Quirke did not reprise her role of Sharon).

There were reports of a bitter fall-out between Linda Robson and Pauline Quirke.

An unnamed source told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Without Pauline, the view is that there is no Birds Of A Feather. You cannot have Tracey without Sharon, and there is no way Pauline will be going back. Things are bad between her and Linda.

‘Linda and Lesley gave it a go but, despite the figures being good, ITV won’t be recommissioning it.’

A show source has told RadioTimes.com: “There are no current plans for a new series.”

It screened in Australia on UKTV and ABC.
