US drama Prodigal Son has been axed after two seasons.
The decision to cancel the psychological crime drama instead of moving forward with a third season is said to have been a difficult one for FOX, but reportedly came down to ratings.
The final episode of season 2 screens next week in the USA will now serve as the series finale.
The Greg Berlanti-produced series stars Tom Payne as a former FBI profiler hired by the NYPD after a spate of killings that mirror those of a jailed killer who is also his father (Michael Sheen).
It screens in Australia on FOX One.

Too bad, the show wasn’t too bad. If it was a Showtime or FX show instead of Fox it may have been able to tell its darker storylines properly.
No, no, no, no ! This is one of my favourite shows ever….so disappointing.
Damn I really love this show. It better not end with a cliffhanger. I read that Fox were only going to renew 1 show between that & Resident. Since Resident is longer running thought it would be the one renewed.
