Renewed: American Idol

American Idol has been renewed for a fifth season by ABC in the USA, taking its total run of seasons to 20.

But there’s no word on whether judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie and host Ryan Seacrest will return.

Deadline claims the Disney-owned network is confident that they will back for next year.

American Idol, which is due to have its season finale on Sunday May 23 stateside, hasn’t been screening in Australia in 2021.

It was last seen on Nine network in 2020.
