Renewed: Days of our Lives

Long running US soap is renewed through to its 57th and 58th seasons.

Back in 2019 media reports ran rampant about Days of our Lives being axed after decades on air… based speculatively on actor contracts.

They turned out to be premature and the show was renewed some time later.

It has now been renewed for two more seasons by NBC, taking it through to its 57th and 58th seasons.

“We couldn’t be happier to bring our loyal fans two more seasons of Days of our Lives and continue what has been an absolutely remarkable achievement in television,” said Michael Sluchan, Executive Vice President, Scripted Series & Kids Programming, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “A big thank you to Ken Corday and the cast and crew for their incredible passion for storytelling that continues to reach new generations of viewers.”

“After more than 55 years of bringing drama, adventure and romance to screens around the world, we are thrilled and honored to carry on the Days of our Lives legacy for another two years,” said executive producer Ken Corday. “We are thankful to NBC for their enduring commitment to the show and grateful to continue this wonderful journey with our fans for years to come.”

They continue to tell bold stories through these iconic characters captivating audiences around the world,” said Steve Kent, Senior Executive Vice President, Programming, Sony Pictures Television. “We are thrilled to continue the legacy of Days of our Lives and for viewers to enjoy two more seasons.”

Days of our Lives, which is currently in its 56th season, aired it’s 14,000th episode in the US last December and remains NBC’s longest-running series.

It screens in Australia on FOX One and 9GEM.

  1. I’m not sure that NBC or CBS would know what to do with the vacant time slots if their venerable (for devoted fans anyway) soaps were removed, day time soaps does appear to be a highly protected industry with some hierarchical studio status involved.
    Personally I now find soaps like The Bold and Beautiful comical, where one take sequences can take anything up to a month r more to fully play out, with much repetitive dialogue to keep reminding the viewer why they are now stuck in a soap time warp, or is it writers block.
    I would suggest Ken Corday and others should take a look at Mexican soaps, now they know how to make these shows.

  2. I hope this show has improved in quality. The last time i was watching they put a women in a coffin where she loved for a about a month, nothing was shown regarding feeding, toileting etc etc.
