Season 2 of Emergency begins on Nine on Monday, filmed at the Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Emergency department.

Frontline workers Dr Luke De La Rue and Dr Scott Taylor, and Nurses Ebony, Sarah, and Kelsey join returning cast Dr Mya and husband Dr Bjorn, Dr Jonathan, Dr Emma, and doctors Sarah, Michael, and Michelle.

Nobody needs a reminder that this season the hospital is faced with a whole new crisis…

In the heartfelt season premiere, Royal Melbourne Emergency’s Dr Emma calls in reinforcements to save a mother whose life hangs in the balance after a high-speed car crash on a country road. Dr Mya and Nurse Ebony brace themselves as paramedics bring in a volatile man putting himself and staff at risk. Dr Jonathan’s patient has a shocking fracture after falling four metres off a ladder. And Dr Luke examines a man who has collapsed at home and suffered deep facial bruising, also after a fall. But what caused this one?

As we will see, the highly skilled and dedicated staff at Royal Melbourne are always ready with heart, compassion, and care for the constant stream of patients coming through the doors – in any emergency.

I wish Nine would find better consistency with their usually strong rating factual programs (such as Emergency, Mega Zoo, Taronga, Paramedics, etc) as they seem to just suddenly appear as fillers and in certain markets say on Thursday nights, sometimes out of order and repeats. Let’s hope this is a network run, same timeslot, main channel, good night and well promoted Affair.

    David, any idea if COVID will come into the show, or is that considered taboo, regarding the patient’s privacy?

    1. It does for staff and their safety practices, I expect it will be a big part of first episode. But I think the patient cases will still be about road trauma, heart attacks etc. It’s how they juggle the two that will differ.
