Returning: Jack Irish

The final season of acclaimed Guy Pearce drama begins in mid-June on ABC.

The final season of Jack Irish begins in mid-June on ABC with all episodes will be available to stream on ABC iview after the premiere.

Guy Pearce is back as the former criminal lawyer with a penchant for getting wrapped up in things he shouldn’t.

Inspired by the acclaimed crime novels of Peter Temple, the four-part series comes full circle, with the long-suppressed trauma of Jack’s wife’s brutal and random murder by his former client Wayne Milovich – which launched the first instalment, Bad Debts – rearing its ugly head.

Jack’s obsession with unlocking the secrets of the past brings him face-to-face with an adversary more personal and destructive than any other he has known.

The first two Jack Irish telemovies Bad Debts and Black Tide were broadcast in 2012 followed by Dead Point in 2014. The Jack Irish series, inspired by Peter Temple’s novels, screened in 2016 then in 2018.

The series was shot in Melbourne late last year.

Joining Guy Pearce on Jack’s final journey are Marta Dusseldorp as journalist Linda Hillier, Roy Billing as horse racing identity Harry Strang, Aaron Pedersen as Harry’s trusted off-sider Cam Delray, Shane Jacobson as old-school detective Barry Tregear, Kate Atkinson as IT-guru Simone, Damien Richardson as Jack’s former legal partner Drew, Bob Franklin as hapless career criminal Brendan O’Grady, Jacek Koman as Linda’s former journalist husband, Damien Garvey as Stan, the Prince of Prussia publican, and the inimitable Fitzroy Youth Club, Terry Norris and John Flaus.

An impressive line-up of guest stars including Gary Sweet, Alison Whyte, Genevieve Picot, Matt Testro, Robert Rabiah and Nicole Nabout also join Jack for this thrilling and moving conclusion.

Created by the highly regarded creative team of Matt Cameron, Andrew Knight and Andrew Anastasios, the series is written by showrunner Matt Cameron (Sunshine, Secret City), Andrew Knight (Rake, Hacksaw Ridge), Andrew Anastasios (The Water Diviner, Wentworth) and Alli Parker (Secret Bridesmaids’ Business, Miss Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries). All four episodes are directed by Greg McLean (The Gloaming, Wolf Creek).

Production Credits: An Easy Tiger Production for ABC in association with Film Victoria. Producers: Ian Collie, Matt Cameron and Jo Rooney. Executive Producers: Rob Gibson and Andrew Knight. ABC Executive Producers: Brett Sleigh and Sally Riley. Distributed internationally by DCD Rights.
