Why SBS dropped Full Frontal with Samantha Bee
With Trump gone, so too has Samantha Bee from Australian screens.

Some readers have been asking what has happened to Full Frontal with Samantha Bee on SBS VICELAND.
The satirical show hasn’t aired in Australia all year, despite new episodes in the US since January.
It first screened on SBS2 in 2016, but with the end of the Trump presidency, has it lost some relevancy to Australians…?
An SBS spokesperson tells TV Tonight, “Like other broadcasters and channels, we constantly assess our programming mix to ensure SBS is providing a distinctive offer and new content to all Australians.
“We love Samantha Bee, and are proud that SBS VICELAND and SBS On Demand could provide a home for Full Frontal fans over five seasons, during which time the show provided an important satirical take on the Trump presidency from one of the all too few women in late night.
“SBS VICELAND looks forward to welcoming new female presenters to the line-up, including Sophie Roe, the host of Counter Space (launching in June) and Isabel Yeung, the host of Hear Me Out (launching late 2021).”

A rather flippant excuse not to screen Full Frontal, but then this doesn’t surprise me after the former President left the oval office. His exit from The White House has rendered most late-night talk show host’s mute. How can they honestly ridicule the current President when he makes the art of watching paint dry exciting?
Trump and his (as it so obviously is now) Republican party are still there with assorted absurd and toxic characters and policies-plenty to commentate on!
Agreed, that statement does not clarify anything. I hope someone else picks it up. Thanks David for checking on this one!
That is not actually an explanation. That is irrelevant faffery. How are new episodes not distinctive new content, SBS?
