1.86m watch Blues thump Maroons in Origin II

Nine easily won Sunday with a 40.9% share, yet Origin II was down amid a Sydney lockdown.

NSW Blues absolutely smashed Qld Maroons last night at State of Origin II with a knockout 26 – 0 result.

1.86m metro viewers watched the game, easily giving Nine the night. But it was also lower than Origin I at 1.91m despite Sydney being in lockdown. That may be because Brissy numbers were the lowest ever for a Game II.

MasterChef Australia was best in entertainment at 601,000 then Spotlight (519,000 from 7pm) and Grand Designs (493,000).

Later Jack Irish drew 397,000 then FBI (255,000 / 183,000), and movie: Forrest Gump (240,000).

Nine network easily won Sunday with a 40.9% share then Seven 21.8%, 10 16.4%, ABC 13.7% and SBS 7.2%.

Nine News drew 1.16m for Nine. RBT was 278,000 in 2 cities.

Seven News won its slot at 1.2m for Seven.

On SBS it was SBS World News (216,000 / 156,000),  Tour de France (149,000) and Treasures Of Greece (148,000).

  1. No surprises that Nine won, with the big numbers for the State of Origin. But numbers will be down for Game 3 in a few weeks time.

I think Masterchef did well against the competition.

  2. I wonder whether there are enough Blues fans to keep Nines ratings going upward, I suspect that if the second half of the second game was counted the ratings in Queensland would have dropped significantly.
