Intriguing news for fans of HBO true crime series I’ll Be Gone In The Dark on crime writer Michelle McNamara.

It is returning for a special episode directed by Elizabeth Wolff and executive produced by Liz Garbus.

This special closes one chapter in McNamara’s investigative work on cold cases, and brings to light another, the murder of Kathy Lombardo in 1984 in McNamara’s hometown of Oak Park, Illinois, which sparked her life-long fascination with unsolved murders.

Tuesday June 22 on Binge (Foxtel is yet to advise broadcast info).
