Is Puberty Blues getting a third season?

Actor Ed Oxenbould takes to social media to tease, "Puberty Blues is back for season 3!!!!"

Well this would be quite fab if it came to pass….

Actor Ed Oxenbould has taken to TikTok to tease that Puberty Blues is getting a third season.

Oxenbould played David Vickers (pictured fr0nt), son of Judy (Claudia Karvan) and Martin (Jeremy Lindsay Taylor) in the series which ran for two seasons from 2012 – 2014.

Recently appearing in Bloom, Reckoning and Diary of an Uber Driver, on TikTok he danced to the show’s theme song, Are You Old Enough? as on-screen text declared, “I’ve been waiting for this moment for quite some time…Puberty Blues is back for season 3!!!!”

Based on the 1979 book by Kathy Lette and Gabrielle Carey, the 10 series also featured Brenna Harding, Dan Wyllie, Ashleigh Cummings, Sean Keenan, Susan Prior and Susie Porter.

Produced by John Edwards & Imogen Banks it also ended rather abruptly due to the availability of the creative team.

In 2014, Edwards told TV Tonight, “Creatively, obviously Imogen and I would love to do more as would Alice (Bell, writer) and Tony (McNamara, writer) who are really the driving force.

“The voice of the show comes from those two people.”

At nearly 10 years since it concluded, it isn’t clear if a revival would place the series in the late 1980s (yes please). It also isn’t clear where the show might land if it is back…. on 10 or Paramount+?

  1. Oooooh, I didn’t get this in my emails this week but this is exciting. I hope they repeat season 2 as I can hardly remember how it ended. I loved this show.

  2. Would love to see it return but it would need dramatic flash forward moments, considering that Ashleigh Cummings (Debbie) and Brenna Harding (Sue) are in their late 20s nowadays.

  3. Much as I enjoyed the series I don’t think a third series is a good idea. The show was about teenage angst and the principal characters are in their mid 20s now.

  4. You’re joking?! I just finished watching the first two seasons on Netflix and now I see this teaser. Well hopefully this is a possible sign of things to come perhaps…

  5. Really hope so !
Absolutely loved Puberty Blues – one of my all time favourite Australian dramas.
But a long time between drinks…hopefully they are able to recreate the magic of the original series.
