Sam Armytage: “Nat’s wanted the job, forever…”

Sam Armytage makes a surprising tweet on her ex-Sunrise colleague, after questions in radio chat.

Sam Armytage has made a surprising tweet on ex-Sunrise colleague Natalie Barr today, following recent media stories in which Barr remarked that the two did not socialise much outside of their workplace.

Armytage, who departed Sunrise in March, was quizzed by Kyle & Jackie O. as to how close they both were.

After laughing it off, she said it was “..better to be talked about than not.”

But she also tweeted, “Look.. I’m out. Nat’s wanted the job, forever.. & she’s finally got it. She just needs to get on & enjoy it – & forget about me..(even though I’m unforgettable).”

Barr recently told Women’s Weekly, “We got along very well in the office, for sure. But the truth is we didn’t really see each other outside the office. We had vastly different lives, I guess. We were in different places. She was hanging with her friends, and I was spending time with my family. So, yes, we were in different places.”

Colleagues not socialising outside of workplaces is not unusual. In March media also fuelled chatter around David Koch, Natalie Barr, Sam Mac and Edwina Bartholomew not attending a farewell lunch for Armytage.

Kylie Gillies later explained the impromptu lunch was her idea.

“They had drinks at Sunrise with her, afterwards. While we were on air they all had some champagne in the office with Sam.

Last month Barr also told TV Week, “When it was announced Sam was going, she texted and said, ‘I really hope they give you this job.’ It was really nice. She’s really generous.”

Morning Wars is returning to Apple TV+ soon.

    1. There were a few projects pitched as comedies, around the time of Get Krack!n, but the vibe was it was fairly predictable territory. Personally I really enjoy Morning Wars, but not all shows about TV work.

  1. Am i the only who thinks they are both just having us on. On screen i saw genuine like for each other. I think Sam was only joking and her and Nat would be having a good old giggle about it all. Just feeding the chooks as the old saying goes.

  2. This reflects so poorly so Sam.

Sam would be well aware that Nat has always maintained she was happy in her newsreader role, so to publicly contradict that is nasty.

If there is beef between Nat and Sam, Nat has always remained classy enough to avoid talking about it (her comments in the recent article don’t say anything negative about Sam and were clearly in response to the journos questions).

No one forced Sam to tweet…. She’s showing her true colours

  3. Yeah for someone who wanted to slide away quietly she is saying a lot.
Yeah Nat probably did long term want the job, and do you know what she is great at it.
Also it’s probably not surprising her and Nat didn’t socialise outside of work. They both have completely different lives.

  4. That’s a loaded tweet and she knows it. For someone so vocal about snarkiness in the media she certainly seems quite comfortable being snarky in the media.

  5. I feel like you may have written and posted this through gritted teeth, David.
Like all workplaces the world over, some people will get on, some won’t…that’s life.

      1. A bit? there is no need for this at all. If you have something to say to someone say it to their face and keep it out of the public. I never understood why these people have to make issues public when it is no one’s business but the people involved.
