Two brothers accidentally kill an old man and get away with it by covering their tracks. But when the man’s neighbours and family start asking questions about his death, the brothers’ lives fall apart. A stylish, contemporary crime thriller set in Edinburgh. Packed with unexpected plot twists and steeped in black humour. Everyone has secrets. You might do your best to hide them. But they’ll come out in the end. Brothers Max (Mark Bonnar) and Jake (Jamie Sives) couldn’t be more different. Max is wealthy with an apparently perfect life. Jake scrapes a living running a record shop. Driving home late one night, they accidentally kill an old man on a darkened street. They manage to conceal their crime, but when others suspect the death wasn’t as innocent as it first appeared, the brothers’ lives start falling apart.

Red Light
Thursday, 10 June
All ten episodes available to stream. In Flemish with English subtitles.
Three women get caught up in the world of human trafficking and prostitution when the husband of one of the women, Esther (Halina Reijn), suddenly disappears. From completely different backgrounds, the lives of these women intertwine, and they find out they need each other to get out of the difficult situations they’re trapped in. Red Light also stars Carice van Houten (Game of Thrones).

  1. ‘Box 21’ is the only current show I have seen with a sex trafficking theme, it’s quite brutal too.
Europe is having political issues with mafia type criminal gangs coming from Eastern Europe, Bulgaria and the Ukraine so these are relevant issues at the moment.

  2. They’re big on prostitution themed shows in Belgium for some reason-can’t recall the name, but there was a 2 season series on SBS a few years back featuring Eastern European and then Thai victims-very brutal and dark.
