iwonder offers lockdown discount

Doco streaming platform offers monthly / annual discount for lockdown-affected areas.

Documentary streaming platform iwonder has announced a discount for new subscribers in lockdown affected areas, if they sign up while under stay-at-home restrictions.

Instead of $6.99 per month or $69.99 for an annual subscription, new subscribers who live in an area currently under isolation orders, will be able to sign up for $3.50 per month or $34.50 for a year.

iwonder CEO, James Bridges, says of the decision: “As we continue to live with the spectre of COVID, at iwonder we’re keen to do whatever we can to make life under lockdown that little bit more bearable. So many TV fans are tired of endless scrolling just to land back on the same drama or comedy box set, which is why we hope to give jaded people stuck at home a chance to make a little something more of their time indoors by diving deeper into the world around them.”

With access to the service comes iwonder’s extensive library of over 1,000 documentaries and factual films, including fan favourites from many of the world’s most prestigious film festivals, including Cannes, Sundance and Hot Docs. Current highlights available to stream today, include

The Walrus and the Whistleblower – The heart-wrenching story of a former animal trainer turned whistle-blower who takes on an iconic marine amusement park in an attempt to free a walrus named Smooshi from alleged neglect and abuse.

The Pickup Game – An inside look at the multi-million dollar ‘pickup’ industry – a business where self-styled seduction coaches charge a small fortune to teach men skills they claim will guarantee success with women.

Eating Animals – The film explores the notion of stepping away from the industrial meat farming practices of the past 40 years that have polluted our environment, endangered our health, and caused us to be complicit in the inhumane treatment of animals.

The Kleptocrats – The astonishing story of the world’s biggest white-collar heist involving government corruption at the highest level, abuse of power and international money laundering leading to the conviction of the former Malaysian Prime Minister

With Australia’s vaccine program currently lagging behind many of the world’s developed nations, and the threat of future lockdowns here to stay for the foreseeable future, iwonder promises to keep its lockdown offer in place, until at least 75% of the population have received their first vaccination.
