Seven will screen first events from Japan ahead of the Opening Ceremony.

Before the Olympics Opening Ceremony this Friday night, Seven will have first events from Japan.

TV Tonight now also has a dedicated Olympics section on the homepage for the duration of the Games (NB: some posts will only appear in this section).

Softball – Australia v Japan
9:45am Wednesday 7mate
Softball returns to the program for the first time since 2008 as Australia faces host nation Japan in their opening round.

Women’s Football
Wednesday 9:15pm Seven
Australia take on New Zealand in a crucial pool game. Australia are looking to finish top 2 in a tough group, featuring World Champions USA and Olympic silver medallists Sweden.Softball – Italy v Australia
3:45pm Thursday 7mate
Australia takes on Italy in their second pool match of the Games. The Aussies have won a medal every time softball has been on the Olympic program.

Men’s Football
8:15pm Thursday 7mate
The Aussies have qualified for the first time since 2008, and face 2004 & 2008 Olympic Champions, Argentina, in their first pool match.

  1. The events that start before the opening ceremony risk being overlooked. I’d prefer to see the opening ceremony first and for the games to be extended to fit in all of the scheduled events.

  2. Im going to stream some events on the 7+ app. I wondered why 7Two wasnt being used for the Tokyo Games? Last time, 7two was being used to screen during primetime, midnight and morning. I

    1. 7two is been used when Seven or 7mate are screening news or AFL. I think the main reason it’s not used this time is that 7mate is in HD, which means better quality images.
