Origin III delivers big night to Nine
Origin III becomes the third highest rating program of 2021, while Nine's share sails past 40%.

State of Origin III finished in a victory for the Maroons and a big 1.75m metro viewers for Nine, -the third highest rating program of 2021- sending Nine to a share over 40%.
NSW Blues nevertheless won the 2021 series, while those viewing numbers will go even higher with regional viewers stacked on.
Up against such competition 7:30 pulled 645,000 then Farmer Wants a Wife (630,000), Win the Week (350,000) and The Queen Carries On (266,000).
Later Mad as Hell was 438,000 then The Front Bar (328,000).
Nine network won Wednesday with 40.3% then Seven 24.6%, ABC 13.7%, 10 12.9% and SBS 8.4%.
Nine News was 1.05m / 938,000 for Nine. Hot Seat drew 538,000 / 358,000.
Seven News won its slot at 1.22m / 1.14m for Seven. Home & Away was 621,000 then The Chase (610,000 / 372,000). 10 Years Younger in 10 Days was 139,000.
ABC News was 827,000 for ABC. The Drum (226,000), Starstruck (198,000) and The Last Leg (83,000) followed.
The Project pulled 504,000 / 301,000 for 10. 10 News First was 444,000 / 281,000 then Growing Up Royal (194,000) and Bull (120,000).
On SBS it was SBS World News (179,000 / 152,000), Tour de France (178,000 across the network) and Secrets of the Tower of London (117,000).
ABC News again led multichannels at 177,000 at noon.

Today: 227,000
News Breakfast: 122,000 / 80,000

Unfortunately the commentators were calling the game from lockdown in Sydney. Whilst they tried, It just didn’t work as they must only have had access to what was being broadcast. They regularly weren’t describing the on field play and often weren’t sure which player did something. Why didn’t Nine use Qld based commentators at the ground? Going to commercials at every break in play and then missing the resumption of play! Heap of ads right up to kick off then Two minutes into game and we get another commercial!!! Totally wrecked the veiwing. The pre game show was just Nine promoting itself and it’s Stan streaming service. Stop nine having a monopoly on showing it live and allow Foxtel and other channels to show live!!!!
