Seven wins Thursday ahead of Games

TV discovers a good ol' soapie cliffhanger can still draw a crowd, even in 2021.

Seven had a winning night, claiming all slots except 7pm.

A good ol’ Home & Away soapie cliffhanger led entertainment at 657,000 metro viewers, which is reassuring for the Drama sector.

Tokyo Olympics coverage drew 627,000  / 464,000 / 207,000 in 3 sessions across the network.

Meanwhile 7:30 was 656,000 then The Bachelor (502,000) and Foreign Correspondent (446,000).

Later The Front Bar was 480,000 then The Latest (404,000) and Q+A was 321,000.

Thursday Night NRL was 361,000 across Nine network.

Seven network won Thursday with 34.4% then Nine 25.3%, 10 17.3%, ABC 15.6% and SBS 7.4%.

Seven News was #1 with 1.26m / 1.14m for Seven. The Chase pulled 635,000 / 365,000.

Nine News (1.13m / 1.07m) was best for Nine. A Current Affair (739,000) and Hot Seat (563,000 / 367,000) followed. RBT was 224,000 in select cities then Paramedics (179,000) and Kings Cross ER (112,000 in 3 cities).

The Project drew 530,000 / 335,000 for 10. 10 News First was 391,000 / 252,000 with Diana’s Decades (191,000) and SVU at 115,000.

ABC News won its slot at a high 774,000 for ABC. The Drum (209,000) and Joanna Lumley’s Hidden Carribean (192,000) followed.

On SBS it was Great Asian Railway Journeys (232,000), SBS World News (185,000 / 155,000), Titanic: the New Evidence (155,000), Mastermind (85,000), and The Good Fight (63,000).

  1. Home & Away having a great year both in live viewers and on 7 plus. Very impressive for a show that’s been around for 30 years and has covered just about every storyline possible.
