In 1975 Ernie Sigley brought his own brand of variety TV to the inmates at Pentridge Prison.

The late Ernie Sigley was one of a kind, a Live TV natural and a man of the people.
In what must surely have been a TV first, The Ernie Sigley Show broadcast live from Pentridge Prison in 1975.
It was an episode of The Mick Molloy Show where Tony Martin presented clips from the variety special.
The cast of Prisoner later filmed a concert special inside Pentridge in 1981.

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode that first introduces Sideshow Bob’s brother Cecil. It begins with Krusty the Clown presenting his show from prison.
I believe that Ernie Sigley did it first in Adelaide, presenting an episode of Adelaide Tonight from within Yatala Prison, before he did it in Melbourne from Pentridge.
when i read the by-line and saw the pic I immutably thought of Johnny Cash, when he did a similar thing.
