Horror story over fake Shudder transactions

"We are aware of individuals reporting that their personal credit card information has been used to purchase Shudder subscriptions without their knowledge or consent."

The Commonwealth Bank this week issued a warning to customers to watch out for a rogue outgoing payments.

On social media, Commbank customers have reported strange transactions of $8.00, $8.13, $8.17, $8.18 and $8.19 going towards US streaming site Shudder.

“We encourage any customer that notices unusual activity on their account to contact us immediately,” a bank spokesman said.

Shudder said in a statement, “We are aware of individuals reporting that their personal credit card information has been used to purchase Shudder subscriptions without their knowledge or consent. If you see such a charge, please contact us at [email protected] and we will immediately reverse the charge and cancel the account. We also recommend that any impacted individuals immediately contact their credit card company to report the unauthorized activity and seek appropriate guidance.”
