Optus has announced a ‘world first’ feature to simplify content subscriptions and memberships for multiple streaming services, allowing eligible Optus customers to save money.
Optus SubHub puts subscriptions all in one place, including Amazon Prime, helping customers keep track of how much they are paying.
Coming soon are Netflix, Paramount+, Fetch TV, BritBox, and iwonder (no word on Foxtel, Binge, Kayo or Stan as yet).
Optus TV, Content and Product Development VP, Clive Dickens said: “The pitch is simple – in an increasingly complex and growing universe of digital content subscriptions, our customers tell us that they find it hard to keep track of exactly what subscriptions they have, are active, and how much they pay for them.
“With SubHub, we have turned the table on complexity with a single platform allowing customers to bundle their multiple new and existing subscriptions, enjoy them as they need them and pause them when they don’t, with just a few clicks.”
Customers will be able to access their content subscriptions and digital memberships through Optus’ My Optus App and www.SubHub.com.au.
The launch of SubHub will include complimentary trial content subscriptions for customers, who can also then earn up to 10 % off when they bundle multiple paid content subscriptions.
“We’re upping the ante on simplicity and value by reducing customers’ content subscription costs through SubHub – which is great news if you want to save money, and even better news if you want to avoid subscription FOMO and subscribe to even more must-have content – but may not have previously been able to justify it.”
Optus will launch SubHub with subscriptions and memberships available from a number of providers including Amazon Australia (Prime membership which includes access to free shipping on Prime eligible orders, Prime Video, Prime Gaming, Amazon Music, Prime Reading and more) and Kindle Unlimited which brings you millions of titles and thousands of audiobooks, in addition to health and wellbeing partner Calm, the leading mental wellness brand with the #1 app for sleep, meditation and relaxation.
Coming soon partners include Netflix, Paramount+, Fetch TV, BritBox, Fiit, pan-Asian entertainment content service iQiyi, factual content and entertainment specialist provider iwonder, and even more Amazon services which are scheduled to be integrated into SubHub over the remainder of the year.
From today’s launch, Optus Sport including OS Fitness will also be included at no extra additional cost for all SubHub customers.
Australian start-up inkl – a global news media aggregator featuring The New York Times, Financial Times, The Guardian AU and Economist will also be available at launch.
“We have a range of popular content brands and subscription partners with SubHub and will continue to expand with more options customers love from other local and global partners,” said Mr Dickens.
Calm Chief Strategy Officer Alexander Will said, “Our partnership with Optus will bring transformational mental wellness resources to the Australian community at a time where there’s a renewed focus on mental health.”
Fetch TV Chief Executive Scott Lorson said, “Fetch has a longstanding partnership with Optus, and we are excited to participate in SubHub. As a master aggregation video platform, we share the vision Optus has of helping customers navigate the exciting, but at times complex, world of expanding content options.”
Fiit co-founder Ian McCaig said the partnership would “bring interactive fitness classes and over 30 World Class fitness trainers to the Australian market, building on top of our OS Fitness partnership.”
iQiyi ANZ CEO Gavin Parry said, “iQiyi on SubHub provides Optus customers the opportunity to access premium quality drama series, movies, variety shows and anime from China, Korea and and South East Asia.”
inkl CEO and co-founder Gautam Mishra said, “I’m sure telecommunications companies around the world will be taking notice. As a technology platform focused on curating and delivering news that creates value for readers, we saw this as a very natural fit for inkl.”
In addition to simplifying subscriptions, SubHub customers can also discover recommendations on new content they may not have tried.
SubHub launches today and will be available exclusively to eligible Optus customers.
