Producers hoping Shane Warne will buy on The Block

A young Shane Warne grew up on the corner of Bronte Court, and producers hope he may attend the Auction.

If executive producer Julian Cress has his way, world-famous cricketer Shane Warne might turn up to The Block auction.

A young Shane Warne grew up on the corner of Bronte Court, Hampton (pictured), home to the current season.

“He apparently learned to bowl against the power pole at the end of the street. It’s the one house that we rented for our production office on the corner,” Cress tells TV Tonight.

“He couldn’t come while we were filming but I’m very hopeful that he will come to the auction and buy back into Bronte Court.

“He should be buying one of the houses just for sentimental reasons and give it to one of his children!”

Producers this year have plans for a COVID-safe Open Day but it will be invite only.

“We want to try and put on a community day to friends, neighbours, community groups that were associated with us. We did some really nice charity work across the series with some local groups and we want to invite them along to see how it’s all turned out.”

  1. Warne, who has covid, and who is living in London, should fly back to Australia for the auctions denying another Aussie a return flight home? Also sounds like they want Warne to do a David Hughes and make an emotive bid and force the prices up.
