Renewed: The White Lotus

Second season moves to an anthology format, with a new location and new characters.

The White Lotus has been renewed for a second season, but moves to an anthology format, with writer Mike White to shift focus to a new location and new characters.

The renewal comes ahead of the first season finale next week.

The series stars Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Steve Zahn, Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandria Daddario, Jake Lacy, Sydney Sweeney, Brittany O’Grady, Natasha Rothwell and Molly Shannon.

“Mike has once again delivered a quintessential HBO show, and it’s the talk of the town. We were thrilled to hear where he wanted to go next, after closing this epic chapter in Hawaii, and can’t wait to keep following him wherever he takes us,” Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO Programming, said.

The final episode of season one premieres on Monday, August 16 at 11.00am on FOX Showcase / Binge.

  1. What a surprise this show has been! The first episode gave little clues to what the show was going to be, and I am now addicted to it. I cannot imagine what the final episode will bring, and that is a very good thing.

  2. I’ve absolutely loved the complete oddity and unsettling feeling this show has given me with these thoroughly unlikable characters. The tone is completely at odds with anything else on TV at the moment. It’s refreshing. Murray Bartlett has been outstanding in a stacked cast which is no mean feat. I never watched Looking but I’d imagine he was good in that too. The plaudits have come for Jennifer Coolidge but I find her the weakest thing about the show… she’s an actress that has never really been able to act imo.
Stoked it’s getting a new setting and characters for S2!
