Sonia’s very busy dance card
There's no slowing down for Sonia Kruger at Seven, with these productions all on her 2021 work load.
2021 has been very busy for Sonia Kruger, and there’s no slowing down, despite constantly changing local restrictions.
“Shooting television in in the time of COVID has challenges,” she tells TV Tonight. “We’re in the middle of shooting Big Brother VIP and so we’re COVID tested every three days. We’ve created a bubble, so I’m glad that we can continue on because there are so many people who need the work. So we’re lucky in that regard.”
But she’s not about to spill the beans on BB VIP just yet.
“I would love to sit here and talk to you about it because we could have so many juicy discussions! And I’m sure we will be having those soon.”
Of the new house at Olympic Park she teases, “It is fabulous. There’s stuff I really want to tell you, but I can’t. It’s befitting of the VIP status, obviously, that VIPs would be looking for….”
Next up she shoots another season of Dancing with the Stars: All Stars but an airdate is yet to be confirmed, nothing that “everything is slightly fluid.”
“We’re looking at shooting that in September fingers crossed, we are out of this lockdown. It’s tested everybody on a production level, because you have to really be able to roll with the punches and move things around. I think Danny, on Big Brother, summed it up best. It’s not the big that eats the small, it’s the fast that eats the slow. I think at the moment, television has to evolve quickly, to be able to keep going.”
Then there will be a ‘regular’ season of Big Brother to film but there’s no word on Holey Moley for 2022 as yet.
Tomorrow she returns on screen with The Voice after a 2 year absence.
“I think Seven’s looking pretty good. The Olympics have been brilliant. The Voice is sandwiched beautifully between Seven News and the Closing Ceremony. It’s a great slot for us to go into.
“We’ve had a great promotional platform and I think the rest of the slate looks great, too.”
The Voice returns 7pm Sunday on Seven.
