Ex-Today producer pleads not guilty

Tom Nicol pleads not guilty to charges relating to an alleged incident in January.

Former Today show supervising producer Tom Nicol has pleaded not guilty to one charge of sexual intercourse without consent.

Nicol, 32, appeared before Downing Centre District Court by phone yesterday and entered the plea to one charge of sexual intercourse without consent.

The charges relate to an alleged incident at his eastern suburbs home in January, however Nicol has always strongly denied the claims and vowed to fight them in court.

A trial is still a long way off, set down for October 4, 2022.

In a statement through his lawyer Mr Nicol said: “It‘s with a heavy heart that I have resigned from my position at the Today show. I have left Nine so I can focus on the legal road ahead.”
