James Corden in talks to extend The Late Late Show

Corden’s current contract runs next August, but expect all parties to reach a new deal.

James Corden is reportedly in negotiations to extend The Late Late Show with CBS.

Deadline reports he has been in talks for some time but that negotiations have stepped up recently.

Corden’s current contract runs in August 2022 and the network is thought to be keen to keep him. While network chiefs are said to be happy with the performance of the broadcast show, it is the show’s digital success that has largely driven up its value: over 9B views on its YouTube page and 27M subscribers, the second most amongst late-night shows.

It has also delivered two spin-off series with Carpool Karaoke and Drop the Mic.

CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl said recently, “We love James and he is and has been doing a terrific job. We don’t comment on the status of negotiations.”

Corden first replaced Craig Ferguson in 2015.

The Late Late Show with James Corden screens in Australia on 10 Shake / 10 Peach.

  1. Caught the start of this last night as he gave his “tribute” to the late, great Norm MacDonald. Felt about as genuine as a Kardashian posting about UNICEF. Show ended when Craig left.

  2. Stopped watching it when Craig left, just didn’t find Corden funny at all in the US format. Although I have seen Corden making some funny comments on British TV shows.

  3. Many can’t stand him, but I really enjoy the show and I think it is now even better as he riffs with the production staff instead of playing it up for a studio audience.

Which late show has the most amount of subscribers?
