NRL Preliminary Finals on Nine

Two clashes from Brisbane this week -but not screening against AFL Grand Final.

Nine / 9GEM screens two NRL Preliminary Finals this week from Suncorp Stadium, on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

This avoids a direct clash with the AFL Grand Final on Saturday night (Nine screens a Rugby Championship Australia v Argentina clash from Townsville then).

The Preliminary Finals will seal the fate of the top four teams in two blockbuster showdowns. An epic rematch of last year’s grand final is on the cards as the mighty Storm set out to keep their premiership campaign alive, taking on the 2nd ranked Panthers. All eyes are also on the Sea Eagles who will be out for redemption after being knocked out of the 2019 finals series by the Rabbitohs. Who will make it to next Sunday’s NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final? Find out with all the action Live on Channel 9 and 9Now.

  1. I skimmed through the Nine Perth EPG & noticed that the Saturday’s Storm-Panthers Match will be shown on the primary channel in non-NRL states. It is very strange to see this shown on the primary channel in Perth.

    1. This NRL game is probably being broadcast on the primary channel (9 Perth) as the coverage is between 1:00PM – 4:00PM on a Saturday afternoon, a time of day when there is unlikely to be another program (sport event, old movie re-run, etc) Channel 9 Perth could show that would do better in the ratings. I know there are a lot of ex-pats from NSW, QLD and New Zealand who live in Perth (most of them working in the mining industry), who will definitely watch the NRL Preliminary Final coverage on Nine Perth if they don’t subscribe to Foxtel or Kayo Sports.

  2. @David Knox: Channel 9 in Melbourne are broadcasting the AFL Footy Show’s MyRoom Telethon this Friday night between 7:30PM and 10:30PM according to online TV guides such as yourtv.com.au

It will be also seen in regional VIC/Southern Riverina of NSW, TAS, SA and WA markets (metro and regional).

This Friday nights Live coverage of the NRL Preliminary Final will instead be broadcast on 9GEM in these markets.
