Former US weather presenter Willard Scott, best known for the Today show (US), has died, 87.
His Today successor Al Roker wrote on Instagram, “We lost a beloved member of our @todayshow family this morning. Willard Scott passed peacefully at the age of 87 surrounded by family, including his daughters Sally and Mary and his lovely wife, Paris. He was truly my second dad and am where I am today because of his generous spirit. Willard was a man of his times, the ultimate broadcaster. There will never be anyone quite like him.”
Scott worked on Today from 1980 to 1996, alongside hosts including Bryant Gumbel, Jane Pauley, Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric.
During the ’60s, he also performed as one of the faces behind Bozo the Clown and was the original Ronald McDonald from 1963 to 1966.
After he retired from television in 2015, the plaza outside Rockefeller Center was renamed Willard Scott Way in his honour.

I remember him well. A real celebrity in his own right. Thanks for making the 80’s and 90’s fun on NBC Today.
