Never get between fans of a good prison drama and their TV screens.
With the end of Wentworth this week, I was reminded about the conclusion of its blueprint series Prisoner.
When 692 episodes came to a halt in the UK in the early 1990s, fans protested to Birmingham’s Central Television.

I’ll never forger arriving in Sweden about 15 years ago – and the taxi driver says ” Are You From Australia, where trhey make Prisoner?” It had been showing on late night TV there!
From memory, as a result of the protest, that particular ITV region (Central) reran the entire first season only.
