Grant Denyer hits back at magazine slur

Grant Denyer has slammed a New Idea cover story which suggested infidelity with his Dancing with the Stars partner, Lily Cornish.

The mag publish paparazzi photos of Denyer with his hand on Cornish’s leg during a break in rehearsals, accompanied by the headline, “Grant Denyer caught out!”, “Chezzi’s heartbreak” and “shock new pics.”

Both Denyer and wife Chezzi (pictured) took to their Instagram accounts to refute the suggestion.

“Lilz is like our adopted daughter,” Chezzi wrote.

“We grew extremely close during her month-long stay with us here in Bathurst.

“We absolutely adore her! And I know full well the context of this pic and I think the headline is gross and really mean. Grant and I are kind of used to bull**** headlines … unfortunately we’ve worn quite a few … but poor Lilz doesn’t deserve this defamation of character. She’s a beautiful and sensitive soul. And I feel quite protective of her. New Idea you should be ashamed.”

Grant Denyer also hit out.

“My wife and I are used to fabricated stories from these types of magazines, we’ve had a life of it, but for Lily, she’s a 22yo kid!,” he insisted.

“This kind of treatment is brutally unfair and disgusting. I’m a Dad of 3 girls. And if any friend is having a bad day or a tough time in their life, I’m going to be there for them. End of story.”

He added that using an out-of-context photo with a headline that doesn’t match the story, is “just f***ing sad.”

Today he told 2Day FM’s The Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed & Erin, “It’s not up to me to divulge what it is but I was just giving her a bit of a pep talk and fatherly advice.

“I just gave her a tap on the leg and she sort of leaned in for a bit of a hug after a chat and that’s the photo on the front page.”

Denyer is frequent fodder for the tabloids, whether as positive or negative content.

Two weeks ago New Idea reposted devoted dad pics and noted, “having been training hard for Dancing With The Stars: All Stars, Grant has been spending a lot of time away from his girls, along with his wife Chezzi. Just six days ago, The former Family Feud host admitted that missing watching some of Sunday’s milestones was tricky.”

“The hard part about working away is missing my girls. This one is changing so quickly. She’s even grown some hair since I left,” it said.

But new pap shots changed the tone two weeks later.

New Idea, published by ARE Media which also owns the TV Week Logies, has now deleted its cover story offline.
