Michael Slater arrested

Updated: Former cricketer & sports commentator arrested and charged over an alleged domestic violence incident.

Former cricketer and sports commentator Michael Slater has been arrested over an alleged domestic violence incident.

NSW Police confirmed an investigation was launched after reports of a domestic violence incident alleged to have occurred on Tuesday.

Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended a home at Manly about 9.20am on Wednesday and spoke with a 51-year-old man.

A police spokeswoman said the man had since been arrested and was taken to Manly police station.

Slater was recently axed by the Seven’s cricket coverage team following tweets criticising the Prime Minister while staying in the Maldives after the Indian Premier League was suspended in April. Seven attributed the culling as part of cost cutting, later announcing Lord Ian Botham would join for the Ashes series.

Slater will face court next month charged with stalking or intimidating his partner.
