Banijay’s Cathy Payne to deliver Hector Crawford Memorial lecture

CEO of global distributor and entertainment giant gets the honour for annual industry lecture next March.

Cathy Payne, CEO of global distributor and entertainment giant, Banijay Rights, will deliver the Hector Crawford Memorial lecture at Screen Forever conference in March.

Payne has risen through the ranks from early days on the New South Wales’ Central Coast to 10 years as CEO of Southern Star International (including negotiating Home and Away from the UK’s ITV to Channel 5) to her current role as CEO of Banijay Rights, overseeing brands such as Big Brother, MasterChef, Survivor, Black Mirror and Peaky Blinders. 

In 2021 she was named one of the twenty most powerful women in Global entertainment by The Hollywood Reporter..

“It’s an honour and a privilege to deliver the Hector Crawford Memorial lecture at Screen Forever at such a critical time for Australia’s screen industry. I look forward to sharing my thoughts about production and distribution changes, challenges and opportunities for our incredible Australian stories,” she said.

Previous Hector Crawford Memorial Lectures have included Rachel Griffiths, Leah Purcell, John Edwards, Justin Milne, Posie Graeme-Evans, and Kim Williams.

Screen Forever will take place on the Gold Coast next March.
