New premiere date for Snackmasters

New series challenging chefs to recreate fast food and confectionary, now begins Monday week.

Snackmasters now has a new premiere date of 7:30pm Monday November 29.

Based on a UK format, this sees Scott Pickett and Poh Ling Yeow challenging chefs to recreate fast food and confectionery, with Yvie Jones as a ‘food detective’ on the factory floor.

There are 4 episodes produced by Warner Bros. Australia.

The only things Aussies love more than eating out are their favourite snacks – like the taste explosion of Twisties, the perennial Christmas go-to gift, Cadbury’s Favourites, the summertime sensation of the Drumstick, and Australia’s own special burger, The Whopper.

Can you get so close to recreating these super treats that a jury of the people who actually make them by the million every day can’t tell them apart from the real thing? That’s the great Snackmasters challenge.

Australia is one of the world’s great snacking nations, munching from morning tea to the mid-arvo fix, to the late-night sweet treat. But just how our favourite snacks are created is a heavily guarded secret, wrapped in mystique. Finally, in Snackmasters, Australia will be given a front-row seat so see how they’re made with a cooking challenge like no other.

Join hosts Scott Pickett and Poh Ling Yeow (MasterChef Australia) as they put highly awarded chefs at the top of their game in a head-to-head battle to replicate famous Aussie snacks, plating up for an exacting jury from the snack-making factory itself.

Meanwhile, viewers will get a sneak peek onto the factory floor to see how their scrumptious treats are meticulously made as our Food Detective, Yvie Jones, ex-Goggleboxer and committed sweet tooth, journeys deep within these factories to find the secrets that go into the creation of Australia’s favourite snacks and see where our chefs are getting it wrong – and right.

In each episode, two of the very best fine-dining chefs enter the Snack Arena in a cook-off battle to make perfect replicas of a hugely popular national snack. They’ll then be judged by the factory workers who make that same snack and know every inch of their product.

The chef whose recipe is judged closest to the original throughout the series will retain a hard-earned reputation and take home the coveted Snack Trophy as Australia’s true Snackmaster.

7:30pm Monday November 29 on Nine.

  1. Um do this is such a hot new series that it’s been shuffled off to non ratings period ? Lotta money for little impact Nine ? So it’s a big fat dud I take it ..

  2. The trouble is, as a nation, we eat poorly with fast food becoming for many younger folks a staple diet. This show will gloricise that aspect. Fast food not only is bad for us but is the biggest polluter of wraps, plastics and general waste.

  3. This sounds near criminally dumb-if you want a Whopper. go get one-they’re available pretty much everywhere 24/7 as is most snack fast food. What’s next-“recreate Heinz tinned spaghetti”!
