Weekend Today and Australian Ninja Warrior has departed Nine after contract negotiations broke down, the Sunday Herald Sun reports.
Maddern joined Nine in 2016, joining the AFL Footy Show from Seven.
She has hosted Ninja Warrior since its inception in the same year, alongside Ben Fordham. But Fordham recently announced he was standing join from the show, meaning it will be refreshed with hosts in 2022.
She joined Richard Wilkins for Weekend Today in 2020, and has featured on Australian Open, Cricket World Cup and Ashes Series coverage.
“Bec has been a great contributor to Nine since she joined us and we wish her well for the future,” Nine said in a statement.
Weekend Today will feature Richard Wilkins, Charles Croucher, Belinda Russell and Jayne Azzopardi in 2022.

I wish her well but a total host refresh of Ninja Warrior has been overdue since the very first episode.
Wouldn’t surprise to see her end up on Fox Footy
I’d get Bec Maddern to read the news on Sunrise whilst Eddy’s on maternity leave. She has a rapport with all the crew from Pre 2016 and would surely give a much needed boost to the shows ratings in Melbourne.
New panellist on The Project, isn’t that where all 9 talent go???
I am not overly surprised by this. I think Bec is a great host but her and Richard Wilkins had no chemistry. I get he is on a network contract and been thrown around the various Today shows of late but I can’t take him as a credible host especially when presenting Covid news.
It’s just about impossible but I’d axe Studio 10 and bring back GMA from Melb with Bec hosting. Possible co-host: Natasha Exelby, Tim Campbell or a wildcard in Tony Armstrong!
Bec should never of left Seven. She is the best Newsreader in the country and was a rising star at Seven but went off to the dying Footy Show. Would love to see her back at Sunrise as her strength is in News.
Actually don’t agree she’s a good presenter. She doesn’t seem to have interest and certainly no empathy for interviewees. Hardly listens to answers. Highly prepared no doubt but no ease and therefore she’s always been an awkward watch. Presumably nine had research?
I think Bec is a great presenter. I’m sure she’ll be signed up on another channel very soon
Im curious as to where she may end up going to, Foxtel??
Very disappointed to learn of this. Bec is a great asset to Nine. The long lockdowns and border closures have made it very difficult for her Today hosting role. Hope we see her back at Seven as I’d certainly switch my breakfast viewing with her.
