WTFN series sell to Canada

Emergency, Paramedics, Space Invaders & Travels with the Bondi Vet in new deal for WTFN.

WTFN titles have been sold to four Canadian broadcasters through the company’s distribution arm, Fred Media.

Reality-based SVOD service hayu has acquired seasons one and two of Nine’s Emergency (20 x 60) and three seasons of Paramedics (30 x 60).

Quebecor Content has licensed Space Invaders (10 x 60) for its Casa lifestyle channel and Travels with the Bondi Vet (13 x 30) for the travel and adventure-led Évasion. Space Invaders was recently re-commissioned by Nine Network while Travels with the Bondi Vet follows Dr Chris Brown in a range of adventures in the wild.

Bell Media has acquired Mega Zoo (10 x 60) which goes behind the scenes at Zoos Victoria, the largest zoo in the Southern hemisphere.

Finally, TLN TV has acquired a package of 38 food-focused hours from Fred Media’s Tastemade catalogue: All the Pizza (7 x 30), Heritage (7 x 30), Frankie’s World (5 x 30), Struggle Meals (4 series: 45 x 30), Sourced (8 x 30) and Recipe for Love (4 x 30).

Zoe Allen, Fred Media’s sales manager for the Americas said, “There are a lot of synergies between Canada and Australia, so I am really pleased to see a number of our big, home-produced shows such as Space Invaders, Emergency, Paramedics and Mega Zoo find great new homes in the country. Hopefully they will be as well received with viewers here as they were in Australia. I am also delighted to have secured a first deal for Fred Media with TLN. With its unique line-up of food and lifestyle content and our speciality in these genres, including our extensive range of Tastemade titles, I’m hoping this deal will prove the beginning of a wonderful new partnership.”
