AACTA ScreenFest returns

AACTA ScreenFest, a free series of industry talks, has returned online.

This includes exclusive content and behind-the-scenes insights from stars such as Sarah Snook in Succession, and Murray Bartlett on The White Lotus.

Filmmaker Greig Fraser discusses his work on the blockbuster Dune, writer Tony McNamara talks crafting Disney villain Cruella, and cinematographer Toby Oliver describes shooting Jordan Peele’s classic horror Get Out.

AACTA CEO Damian Trewhella said, “Australian film and screen has been exceptionally strong this year, and to be able to hear from industry professionals is a privilege for fans, students, and industry alike. We are very pleased to have a uniquely Australian line-up with an array of large players from the Australian Film and Screen landscape. We’re proud to be able to showcase the exceptional talent and content being produced by incredible Australians and we are excited see the return of AACTA ScreenFest in 2021.”

This event gives audiences the chance to engage with their favourite productions and screen industry professionals, in the lead up to the 2021 AACTA Awards. The AACTA Awards honour the many creative people involved in our unique Australian entertainment sector, one that has faced enormous challenges over the past two years. It is fantastic to see people in the industry recognised for their tremendous achievements and contributions to our world-class film and television productions.”

From Saturday, December 4, the program begins with tutorials on creating content for social media presented by Meta, a masterclass in producing with Bruna Papandrea and her Made Up Stories partners, documentary & kids’ TV showcases, and exclusive panel discussions with cast and crew who have achieved outstanding feats in screen and entertainment.

In a milestone for the Australian screen industry, 2021 saw more Australian First Nations scripted projects go into production in a single year than ever before. AACTA are marking this historic moment with Celebrating First Nations New Wave featuring Nakkiah Lui, Darren Dale, Trisha Morton-Thomas, Danielle MacLean and Dena Curtis.

AACTA ScreenFest also includes the broadcast of the 2021 AACTA Awards presented by Foxtel Group (Wednesday, December 8, 7.30pm AEDT on Channel Ten) and AACTA Industry Awards (Monday, December 6, 6.30pm AEDT on AACTA TV).
