Cush Jumbo, James Nesbitt, Richard Armitage and Sarah Parish star in an 8 part UK thriller Stay Close.

With trademark thrills, gripping suspense and secrets of past crimes beginning to unravel, Stay Close questions how much you really know someone. Four people each conceal dark secrets from those closest to them; Megan (Jumbo) a working mother of three, Ray (Armitage), a once-promising documentary photographer, Broome (Nesbitt) a detective unable to let go of a missing person’s cold case, and Lorraine (Parish), an old friend of Megan’s. As the past comes back to haunt them, threatening to ruin their lives and the lives of those around them, what will be their next move?

Friday December 31 on Netflix.

  1. I managed to watch this series after Christmas and rated it as a good binge watch (for those who like that sort of thing), the show also made me think that the limited locations used could describe ‘Stay Close’ a COVID production as the series did not travel very far, the only indication of distance being provided by overhead drone shots. As a crime thriller the series is a journeyman effort as far as the acting is concerned, but with a plot that may be a bit too obvious for some, it’s a worthwhile Netflix addition all the same.

  2. Looking forward to watching this, even if I thought the book was one of his weaker ones. I really need to check out Gone For Good and The Woods as well.

  3. Cush Jumbo is given top billing but James Nesbit is always great value for any show as is Richard Armitage, however James Nesbit does seem to be getting typecast as a Police detective in recent times, maybe the producers should have swapped the leading male roles. It seems that writer Harlan Coben will have 14 of his novels created as Netflix series, so I imagine that Netflix will want to see some good viewer numbers for this Stay Close series.
