Doctor Who: Eve of the Daleks: teaser

Exterminate the new year when the Daleks return and wreak more havoc.

A teaser has been released for the Doctor Who New year’s special, Eve of the Daleks.

Starring in the special are Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor and companions Yaz (Mandip Gill) and Dan (John Bishop).

Guest stars include comedian and actress Aisling Bea (Fair CityLove Wedding RepeatQuiz), Adjani Salmon (Dreaming Whilst Black) and Pauline McLynn (Father Ted, EastEnders, Last Night In Soho).

Showrunner Chris Chibnall said of the special: “We all need a little romance in our lives around New Year. Less so, Daleks. But Aisling Bea and Adjani Salmon’s characters will have to deal with both in a New Year’s Eve from hell. Together with Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor, it’ll hopefully prove the perfect New Year’s Day tonic.”

This special is the first of three airing in 2022, ending with Jodie Whittaker’s (and Chibnall’s) departure next Spring.

ABC is yet to confirm broadcast details for the Eve of the Daleks episode.

  1. Didn’t really like Davies’s Doctors prancing about like superheros. During that period the Moffat episodes were great SF though and what lasted. He only did one or two a year though. Much harder when he was doing them all.

  2. Dr Who ratings in the US are not doing too well according to some online reviewers; Who fans await the return of Russell T Davies and the departure of Jodie Whittaker with the hope that the ‘Who universe’ will change tack from its present course and return to its past creative roots which kept dedicated Who fans happy. This will certainly be a challenge for Russell and probably the BBC itself who are a significant part of the management issue for all the theme changes that were made to this classic show, which is still a late 20th century creation at heart.
