Renewed: CSI: Vegas

William Petersen is not returning for Season 2.

CSI: Vegas has been renewed for a second season but star William Petersen is not returning.

The Hollywood Reporter notes Petersen agreed to reprise his role as Gil Grissom only for the first season. He will, however, remain an executive producer.

Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mandeep Dhillon and Mel Rodriguez are all due to return, but Jorja Fox is reportedly “not locked down yet.”

“The incredibly talented CSI: Vegas creative team and cast did a superb job this first season, brilliantly updating and portraying the CSI universe with fresh stories and a new crime lab, proving that after 20 years, the CSI fan base is still hungry for more and ready to embrace a new chapter in this illustrious franchise,” said Amy Reisenbach, executive vice president of current programs at CBS.

CSI: Vegas airs in Australia on 10.

  1. I miss Julie “Finn” Finlay played by Elisabeth Shue. Her character’s history and chemistry with D.B. Russell (Ted Danson) was special. Shame Finn was killed off in the former series.
Admittingly, there will only ever be one Grissom.

  2. Sorry to hear William Petersen won’t be back. This was one of the better reboots and I was enjoying revisiting the show. But I’m not sure how engaging it will be without the attraction of the old characters from season one. It was a clever way to bring the series back but there’s a lot more competition in the genre now.

  3. Is there any word as to how many eps will make up S2?
I was just getting used to Petersen’s snappy zingers again.
But CSI Vegas is a pretty bland addition to the “who-&-how’d-they-do-it” genre.
Jees, we’re getting hard to please in our old age!
