Fire at former Southern Cross Austereo, Townsville.

Fire crews attended roof fire at building once home to SCA in Townsville.

Three Queensland Fire and Emergency crews attended the former Southern Cross Austereo Townsville on Thursday.

A fire was burning in the roof of the building on Dalrymple Rd, which was evacuated after it was detected at 4.50pm.

Queensland Police, Queensland Ambulance and Ergon crews attended, the Townsville Bulletin reports.
A QFES spokesman said there was smoke in the building, but the fire had burnt out before their crews arrived.

SCA sold the property in 2015 and the building is now commercially owned.

Investigations were continuing into the cause.

  1. The SCA Canberra building in Watson had a light fixture burn out a few weeks before SCA left the building. The fire was extinguished quickly. I gather the developers would have been happier if it had burned down and saved them the hassle of demolition.

The Watson Ghost must have gotten bored of the construction site and taken a trip to Townsville.
