Caitlin & Tim win The Voice: Generations

Father & Daughter duo take out winning title for Team Rita.

23-year-old Caitlin and her 52-year-old dad, Tim, were last night voted inaugural winners of The Voice: Generations.

The pair performed Sia’s Alive in the third and final episode of the talent off-shoot, taking out the $20,000 prize.

Team Rita’s duo defeated fellow finalists Ty and Eddie (Team Keith), The Wenas (Team Guy), and Kelsi and Jess (Team Jess).

“Oh my gosh! With all these amazing teams, I just can’t believe it! Thank you so much Australia for voting for us and Team Rita,” said Kaitlin.

Dad Tim said, “When I perform on stage with Caitlin, I am in awe of her singing. It’s incredible.”

Rita Ora added, “I can’t believe it! Well, I can believe it, but I can’t, but I can! I’m so happy for you guys. You deserve it. I’m just so happy.

“Every time I’ve been with you both, you’ve seen me break into tears. It is genuine happiness at seeing how far you’ve both come and how much you love your daughter, and how much she loves her dad.

“You guys have one of the best voices I’ve ever heard on this Voice experience. Thank you so much for being here.”

Public voting for the winner was open for less than 24 hours with one of 4 pre-recorded endings screened after voting closes at 8:20pm AEDT.

A full season of The Voice is due later this year on Seven.

  1. I enjoyed The Voice last year. Two aspects I think should be changed this year is the unlimited chair turns needs to be limited (like it originally was) and consequently the second stage culling extended a little (it was rushed and brutal last year). With Voice Gen, the limited chair turn made it far more appealing to me. I liked the father /son team but the ultimate winners were probably the best. A decent show. Whether it continues next year for say a 2 or 3 week run against MAFS, hard to say. Not a bad alternative to MAFS (ie completely different show aimed at a broader demo presumably). MAFS numbers are down slightly and 500k overnight numbers is decent against MAFS.
