  1. Season 1 was low budget, clever, fast paced and original. S2 has much better production values and is very stylish but it’s boring. I much prefered the two fill eps that explored Rue and Jules’s character which some good dialogue. Now they have spent up to half an episode retconning the backstory of minor characters that have no real impact on the main story. It’s overloaded with voice overs explaining the bleeding obvious. It is totally unbelievable that anyone could spend 5 minutes with Rue and not work out she’s still doing loads of drugs. The main story has become a soap based around two drug fulled love triangles between Rue, Jules and Elliot and Nate, Cassie and Maddy. I used to look forward to each episode, now its the last thing I watch each week and FF through much of it to get to the odd good scene. And I’m not the only one. Ratings are half S1’s.

  2. Completely agree with all of this. This scene is all style over substance and no real plot. Its like a very long music video. But the last scene with Cal last episode was by far the best scene of the season.

  3. Whilst I’m mostly enjoying S2… I’m finding it quite aimless, directionless even. I hope it gathers a bit of focus as we head to the back end of the season, but I won’t hold my breath. It’s definitely a show that is going for all style over substance imo.
However the scene last week with Cal confronting his family was truly breathtaking. Eric Dane is a brave man taking on that role but he’s killing it!

    1. A show designed for American audiences I would suggest troy_story. My curiosity is just how long producers believe a few 20 somethings can play high school teens in these shows, especially if they want a five or six season run, which most U.S. showrunners prefer.
