Renewed: Yellowstone

Kevin Costner cattle ranch drama gets a fifth season in the US.

Hit US drama Yellowstone has been renewed for a fifth season.

Kevin Costner returns along with Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Forrie Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Finn Little, Ryan Bingham and Gil Birmingham. Guest stars Jen Landon and Kathryn Kelly have both been upped to series regulars.

The series chronicles the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Costner), who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect – the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.

The season 4 finale drew over 15 million total US viewers.

“We are honoured to be able to bring audiences another season of Yellowstone. The continued growth in viewership and the recent recognition from the guilds bolsters our commitment to continue to bring groundbreaking entertainment to audiences,” said executive producer David C. Glasser, 101 Studios.

It screens in Australia on Stan.

  1. As one of the most watched streamed shows last year it would be more surprising if Yellowstone had not been renewed. Taylor Sheridan is one of the better creative screenwriters still working in Hollywood at the moment, his ‘1883’ and Mayor of Kingston is worth a look if you are a fan of Yellowstone, and he has another title ‘Kansas City’ about an Italian mobster starring Sylvester Stallone (according to Deadline) in development as well, and that’s not all, yet another Yellowstone spin-off set on the 666 ranch is in the pipeline, anyone watching the frame story of Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) when he was sent to the 666 ranch to become a cowboy, could see the origins of a spin-off happening.
