Chrissie Swan and Georgie Tunny will both replace Carrie Bickmore when she takes an extended break from The Project.
“Friends of The Project, Chrissie Swan and Georgie Tunny will join hosts Lisa Wilkinson, Waleed Aly, Peter Helliar, Hamish Macdonald and Tommy Little while Carrie Bickmore and her family go on a well-deserved adventure,” 10 said in a statement.
Chris Bendall, Executive Producer The Project, said: “Chrissie and Georgie are well known and loved by Project viewers and I am delighted to see them both take larger hosting roles.
“We have a lot of exciting plans or the show this year. Carrie’s seat is in safe hands until she returns mid-year with Chrissie and Georgie joining Lisa who will continue to deliver outstanding feature stories from around the country alongside her existing hosting duties. With the support of Waleed, Pete, Hamish and Tommy, The Project team has never been stronger and more ready to take on a huge year ahead.”
Carrie Bickmore this week told viewers she would take a couple of months off as she heads to the UK with family.
“Chris (Walker) and I and the kids are heading off on a family adventure together. We’ve been wanting to do it for a while but lots of reasons, timing hasn’t been right, but we figure it’s never going to be the perfect time to go and it’s something we really want to do before my son Ollie starts his final years at school so we’re doing term two in the UK. So I will be off for a couple of months,” she said.
Chrissie Swan recently began hosting duties at Would I Lie to You? while Georgie Tunny is signed to news streaming platform Flash.

Bring Gorgi back. The reason why ratings are declining is too many changes. all these new people like Jan Fran, Rachel Corbett, Georgie Tunnel and I have no idea who they are. Gorgi had a great personality and worked so well with Waleed. Keep it simple.
Great news, luv Chrissie and its a better gig than the awful Aussie version of Would I Lie To You.
No male names on that list????
She’s not coming back… Why would she sell her house to go on a 3 month trip????
As far as we know it’s extended leave, term 2 for schooling.
Thank you for saying its an extended leave and not quitting like some ridiculous ‘news’ sites are saying for click bait!
A nice reprieve for the production team ;p – Looking forward to seeing some new faces while it’s still on air.
