Renewed: The Afterparty

Murder-mystery comedy with Tiffany Haddish gets a second season.

Apple TV+ has announced an early season two renewal of murder-mystery comedy The Afterparty.

The news arrives ahead of today’s season one finale.

Created and directed by Chris Miller, the series centres on a murder mystery at a high school reunion. Each episode explores a different character’s account of the fateful evening in question, through the lens of popular film genres.

The first season stars Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, Zoë Chao, Ben Schwartz, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer, Jamie Demetriou and Dave Franco.

In addition to directing, Miller serves as showrunner and is executive producing alongside Lord through the pair’s production banner, Lord Miller. Anthony King (Search Party, Dead to Me) also executive produces the series.

  1. Hmmm I had pretty high hopes for this show but feel fairly let down. Great cast and talent in front of and behind the camera, some funny bits but mostly feel like it has just plodded along. I’ll finish Season 1 but not sure there’s been enough in it to draw me to a second season.

  2. I’ve enjoyed the show largely due to the stellar cast… Especially Jamie Demetriou who has been nothing short of hilarious as the insanely awkward and overlooked Walt. His episode had me in stitches.
I hope it will be a seasonal anthology type show because I don’t see myself plausibly having another season with these people and this case.
