Nine lands second Leader’s Debate

Scomo & Albo to debate on May 8 with Sarah Abo as moderator.

Nine has landed the second Leader’s Debate between PM Scott Morrison and Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese for 8:45pm Sunday May 8.

Sarah Abo from 60 Minutes will moderate the event with questions from Nine political editor Chris Uhlmann, The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald chief political correspondent David Crowe and Nine radio host Deb Knight.

Darren Wick, Director of News and Current Affairs for Nine, said: “In less than three weeks, 17 million Australians will head to the polls to determine who will govern the nation for the next three years. With inflation at its highest rate in more than 20 years, house prices spiralling to unattainable levels and interest rates set for successive hikes, this will be one of the most important elections in recent times. Coupled with climate change, global insecurity, stagnant wage growth and aged care, both leaders have their work cut out for them to sell their respective policies. We can’t wait to see how this debate will unfold.”

Seven has also been jockeying for a debate with Mark Riley as moderator while ABC hopes David Speers will land a third debate.

Sunday May 8 is also Mother’s Day.

  1. Years ago I read an economics book and it said that it is not against the law for a politician to lie. No wonder they keep lying.

  2. I eye rolled at 9…but those taking part seem like a good mix…at least I can access this one…Not sure it will change my mind though….Thank you DK.

  3. On another note Lego Masters was listed as a 2 hour show on this day ,so that’ll be changed but I think a start time of 7.30 would have been better and let Lego Masters rest for the evening.

  4. Kochie seemed to think he had the debate when talking to Albo the other day. He will be disappointed. But Chris I love the Libs Uhlman. Please no. He doesn’t even try to hide his bias.
