Renewed: The Talk

US talk show has been renewed for a 13th season.

US talk show The Talk (!) has been renewed for a 13th season, which was no guarantee after a controversial 12 months.

Hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Jerry O’Connell, Natalie Morales and Sheryl Underwood will all return.

The show drew headlines last year when Sharon Osbourne was fired following controversial comments on race and friend Piers Morgan. Carrie Ann Inaba also left the show last year, as did Elaine Welteroth.

The announcement was made live on air with O’Connell joking, “Now I know why all our bosses showed up today.”

The Talk screens in Australia on 10.

  1. The current lineup is so painful to watch, especially ‘look-at-me’ Jerry O’Connell.
The EPG still has wrong hosts listed. It was at least 12 months before they updated following the departure of Sara Gilbert and Sharon Osbourne.
From the guide today: Join hosts Sheryl Underwood, Carrie Ann Inaba, Jerry O’Connell, Amanda Kloots and Elaine Welteroth….

  2. i’m still shaking my head wondering why on earth Ten only show this at 6am?? why not put it on in the afternoons where it would surely rate better?

    1. Agreed. Not sure if the afternoon encores of MasterChef etc. pull in good numbers? It still mystifies me how 10 cut every episode of Entertainment Tonight down to ~7 minutes. With the encores having varied runtimes, ET is simply a gap filler and it very rarely gets a full play out, not even on 10play.

      1. So it wasn’t my pvr playing up after all, i thought it seemed shorter some days, not that i watch it every day now. When i watched religiously a few years ago they always showed the full 1/2 hour.

i suppose fair enough if Ten’s arvo encores rate don’t put the talk on, not much room with Studio 10, Dr Phil & Judge Judy which i presume are good raters. I would say 3.30 would be a good time leading into B&B but maybe a ratings gap with stay at home parents going out to pick up the kids.

  3. I have seen this show a few times. One day I counted how many times the audience clapped to a politically correct statement from those on the stage and it was 33 times. I find it hard to watch.
