Andrew O’Keefe granted bail

NSW court agrees to rehab for 6 - 12 months for former Chase host.

Former Chase host Andrew O’Keefe has been granted bail on strict conditions today by the NSW Supreme Court.

In March he was refused bail by Justice Robertson Wright, following an application for three-weeks proposed rehabilitation.

Today Justice Robert Hulme agreed to a new application for rehab of at least 6 months and up to 12 months.

Justice Hulme said O’Keefe had a long-standing and significant drug problem combined with mental health issues, but accepted a lengthy rehabilitation.

O’Keefe has pleaded not guilty to six assault charges, including intentionally choking a person without consent, three counts of common assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He has pleaded guilty to one charge of possessing a prohibited drug and is yet to be sentenced.

He is also banned from using alcohol and illegal drugs and must next appear at Downing Centre Local Court on June 25.
