  1. And people here have been complaining about the sheer number of MC eps per season these days-again cheaper to make more eps than develop and produce another show. Networks are under increased revenue pressure as audiences fall and viewing alternatives increase.

  2. Been a fan of Big Brother since Day 1. Had goose bumps and big smile on face watching previous housemates go in this series last night. Felt sad though when they showed old clips of their Live evictions. It just reminds you what an integral part of the show this used to be and how the anticipation and excitement of the audience went into fever pitch watching to see if your favourite or hated housemate was going or staying depending on our voting each week. Gave the viewer a sense of inclusion and power over the outcome. I know it’s too late for this series as it’s already been recorded, but can’t believe the network are still ignoring the shows fans requests to have the live evictions reinstated. Viewers are telling them what they want to see and will tune in and watch but they ignore and think they know best. Those ratings are very telling. Please do what the fans and viewers are asking and they’d have a hit show again.

  3. This BB season is yet another wasted opportunity to revert the show to its glory days, and those ratings are what they deserve in return. The past stars are certainly a nice touch, but it still suffers greatly from the immediate gameplay and shoddy editing. The patchiness of this Survivor-in-a-house-style format just leaves no room to get to know the housemates, which was always the driving force behind the original run. They never learn.

    1. Absolutely agree. 7 have ruined this for me. The constant.1.45-2hr eps also ruined this for me im not willing to commit anymore. Agree as well we want to get to know people.

  4. Seven keep persisting with lengthy eps of Big Brother. 2 hours is just way too long!!! I like the show but they’re milking it too much & this is where a lot of viewers fall off. 1 hour eps & maybe 90 mins max for premiere would be so much better!

    1. This is what is destroying all the networks with their shows. They run way too long…..every reality show on all stations. 7 would have to be disappointed with that figure for BB.

      1. As has been much discussed over the last few years here, it’s cheaper to extend the run time of a program the network is already making than to do a new program-uneven start/finish times also discourage viewers from switching channels to watch something else ‘live’.

        1. It may be cheaper to extend it but im someone who loves BB but im not watching 1.45-2hrs episodes so im quitting already. Sick and tired of FTA stretching out shows past 9pm so done with it. Im shockingly watching MC this season loving the 840 finishes wasnt planning on watching it but love it.

  5. Congrats to ABC, well deserved on engaging and thoughtful programming. Expensive and flashy reality television for over an hour and sometimes 2 hours is not always appealing.

  6. Watching MC and really enjoying it. Also loving the 840 finishes. I wish more shows would do this or finish at 9pm maximum.

Those BB figures shocked me, what a flop! I watched for 45 minutes and will not be back even with the nostalgia of the old contestants. The first episode was ruined naturally with a twist and no eviction. I’ve been fooled too many times by BB on 7! Wont be back.

Also with BBs episodes running past 9pm everynight they are eroding their audience. Cut it down its ridiuculous!

    1. Yes, I like the (just over an hour) eps of MCA. Still allows you to view something else (e.g. next week with the return of HYBPA?) or turn the TV off! Short and sharp works for me. Glad others agree 😊

  7. Think this shows, that despite it being a fun opening night of Big Brother, Seven should have put more into The Voice instead, even if they did win the night, thats almost over and we don’t really know the contestants that well because of the massive culling. Even 2-3 more weeks would have been nice with a few extra episodes instead of once a week.
