More signs Pluto TV is coming to Australia

"We continue to expand Pluto TV throughout Europe and in new continents, including Australia and Africa," says top Paramount exec.

Paramount-owned ad-supported streaming service Pluto TV is launching in Sweden, Denmark and Norway with further confirmation it is headed down under.

Raffaele Annecchino, President and CEO, International Networks, Studios and Streaming, Paramount, said, “The launch of Pluto TV in the Nordics is a tremendous milestone for the service, as we’re now streaming in more than 30 countries and territories globally. This transformative partnership will serve as the framework as we continue to expand Pluto TV throughout Europe and in new continents, including Australia and Africa, bringing this strategic model of free streaming to the world.”

Pluto TV is launching with 70 curated channels in the Nordics, with titles including Swedish Truckers, Swedish Hollywood Wives, Denmark’s Masterchef, Amazing Makeovers, celebrity cooking show Camp Kulinaris, popular reality format Paradise, sports titles Bellator MM, World RX and local episodes of MTV Unplugged.

A launch date for Australia is yet to be formally announced.

  1. Pluto TV has been streaming in the UK for a while now with some interesting ‘curated channels’ including ones dedicated to McLeod’s Daughters and older series of MasterChef Australia. I wouldn’t be surprised if these and other classics appear when it lands in Australia whenever that may be.

  2. Europe does have its own extensive television industry and PLUTO has obviously recognized this providing opportunities for home grown television. How Pluto will work in Australasia will be interesting.
